Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are one of the most significant advances in dentistry. They provide several benefits for dental patients who have missing teeth. When you lose one or more teeth, it affects the contour of your face and changes your appearance. This allows other teeth to shift out of position. Dental implants stimulate your jawbone like your natural teeth.

This helps preserve the jawbone, prevents it from receding and keeps your other teeth in correct alignment. Dental Implants can help patients replace missing teeth and restore their normal appearance. When you replace missing teeth, it also restores the ability to bite and chew normally. This allows dental patients to enjoy a varied diet and maintain good overall health.

Dental implants are also a great option for patients who currently wear dentures and partials because they don’t require special maintenance.  Patients can brush and floss their dental implants like natural teeth. Many patients who wear dentures and partials lose additional teeth to decay when they can’t maintain the frequent cleaning that those dental appliances require. As you lose your teeth, you’ll also lose the bone that held them in place. This will affect the fit of your dentures and make wearing them very uncomfortable. Dental Implants can help you prevent unnecessary bone loss.

Dental implants can also serve as supports for crowns and bridges. The traditional technique of a bridge requires that the neighboring teeth be re-contoured to cement the bridge in place.  Partials use clasps that also anchor to nearby healthy teeth.  Also, wearing dentures, especially uppers, can interfere with your enjoyment of food because they cover your palate and taste buds.

Dental Implants are a wonderful option in restoring your mouth to full function.

As a patient of Dr. Birckhead and Dr. Powers, I have experienced exceptional dental care. I have never been this pleased with every aspect of the dental patient treatment as I have since my first visit in this office. Everyone involved from the dentist to the staff has always demonstrated personal care and professionalism in a very relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend any of my family and friends to come here for all their dental needs. It has been a pleasurable experience.
