Dr. Jim Birckhead
Dr. Birckhead received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1981, graduating Cum Laude. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1985 from the College of Dentistry, University of Tennessee at Memphis.
In order to stay on the cutting edge of technology, Dr. Birckhead continues to take an average of 60 units of continuing education per year. Also, he has received extensive post-graduate training in porcelain veneers, posterior composites, root canal therapy, small-diameter implants and Oral Conscious Sedation. In 2004, Dr. Birckhead was voted “Nashville’s Best Dentist” by the Nashville Scene. Each year he volunteers his time to lead a dental mission trip in Haiti.
Dr. Birckhead is a member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, Nashville Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and is also on staff at the Sumner Regional Medical Center.
In his free time, Dr. Birckhead enjoys golfing, farming, church, and spending time with his wife, two children, and grandchildren.
Dr. Jeff Powers
Dr. Powers received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in 1996 from Vanderbilt University. In 2000, he earned his doctoral degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis.
Graduating in the top 5 of his dental school class, Dr. Powers received several honors during his training. These honors include being a Dr. Robert N. Wilson and Thomas Weems Scholarship Award recipient, an inductee into the Richard and Marguerite Dean Honorary Odontological Society as well as the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, and receiving the four year certificate of honor on the Dean’s List for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
Dr. Powers has received extensive post-graduate training in Invisalign orthodontic therapy, cosmetic veneers, endodontic therapy, mini-implants, and oral conscious sedation. He is an active member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.
In his spare time, Dr. Powers enjoys sports, playing guitar, volunteering his time to help with his church, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
